Wyatt

Wyatt is one incredibly handsome KuneKune with a personality every bit as charming as that adorable face. Wyatt came to SAHH as part of a group of five KuneKune pigs rescued together. All five were battling severe pneumonia and needed immediate medical care. With the help of our veterinarian, antibiotics and round-the-clock care, all five pulled through and grew into strong, healthy pigs. Over time, we raised the funds to have the boys neutered, and eventually three of the five were adopted together into a wonderful forever home. Wyatt and his brother Andi remained here at SAHH, where they became ambassadors for their breed and an important part of our educational program. Sadly, we lost Andi in 2023, leaving Wyatt to carry on the job they once shared. KuneKunes originated in New Zealand and today are increasingly raised for their meat. But here, people get the opportunity to meet Wyatt. They can look into his eyes. They can touch him, talk to him, watch his personality emerge and experience firsthand just how intelligent, curious and individual a pig truly is. We want people to make that connection. Because when an animal is reduced to something wrapped in a package at the grocery store, it is easy to forget the individual who existed before it. Wyatt helps us change that. He isn’t a product. He is a funny, charming, incredibly handsome boy with preferences, friendships, emotions and a personality all his own. And while his brother Andi is deeply missed, Wyatt continues the work they started together — simply by being himself and allowing people the opportunity to know him. Wyatt will never be someone’s meal. He will spend the rest of his life safe, respected and deeply loved in sanctuary.
