Daniel

Sometimes in rescue, you know exactly who is coming. And sometimes… a transporter opens the back of the trailer and says: “Okay, where does the goat go?” The goat? What goat?! And that is how Daniel became part of the SAHH family. We had rescued a farm pig who had been badly burned in a barn fire. When the transporter arrived, we unloaded her, got her settled in and made sure she was comfortable. Then came the question about the goat. Sure enough, standing in the back of the trailer was Daniel. Apparently, Daniel was supposed to be dropped off at another rescue, but somewhere along the way there had been a miscommunication. The transporter wasn’t heading back in that direction, and there was Daniel—with nowhere to go. So… Daniel stayed. And we are SO glad he did. Daniel is quite possibly the biggest goat we have ever seen. When he stands up on his hind legs, this boy reaches approximately 6’5”! We know he’s part LaMancha—the adorable little ears give that away. Based on his coloring, we’ve always wondered if there might be some Alpine in there too, but your guess is as good as ours. What we don’t have to guess about is his personality. Daniel is goofy, silly, lovable, and absolutely FULL of character. Basically, he fits right in around here. He may have arrived completely by accident, but somewhere along the way, that accidental drop-off became exactly where Daniel was supposed to be. Because sometimes family finds you in the strangest ways. And sometimes it arrives unexpectedly in the back of a trailer and someone asks… “Where does the goat go?” Well, Daniel, apparently the answer was: **Right here. ** We wouldn’t trade this big, goofy boy for the world.
